(it's Mercury day as I'm writing this) we're back with another blog post and today we're going to be talking about Talismans!

You may or may not know that some of the Spiritual and Magickal systems that I've been discussing over the years, from Kemetic Magic, Solomonic & Angelic Magic & Even the Mansions of the Moon, are all Talismanic based systems of Magic!

I love how etymology give us more context in the magickal realms! From the origin of the word Talisman, we learn that the word mean to complete a rite, and “end”.

This gives us a tip to visualize the end of our manifested reality and construct the talisman with the end in mind (very law of attraction/law of assumption coded!)

A lil bit of Talismanic History

Talismans have been an integral part of African spirituality for thousands of years. In many African cultures, objects like stones, bones, and crafted figures were imbued with spiritual significance.

Now we have access to resources that give us clues to talismanic magic from all over the world, used for various purposes from Planetary to Angelic throughout history.

Some scholars believe this practice is the origin of wearing jewelry and adornments, as in, it’s always been for ritual purposes, putting our physical vibration in alignment with a certain intention and even adornment had both physical AND spiritual significances.

In the story of Ishtar and Ereshkigal, Ishtar’s jewelry is associated with her power, and with each gate she passes through in the underworld, a piece of jewelry is removed, symbolizing a removal of a power that she possesses.
